Budget Cuts Hit IAF Squadron


iafThe significant budget cuts to the IDF impact all branches of Israel’s military, including the Israel Air Force. A squadron was grounded on Tuesday, 2 Menachem Av 5773 indefinitely, reportedly due to a lack of funds.

The move was compelled after the cabinet passed the 2013 – 2014 state budget and the military came to the realization it must cut operation costs. Military officials explain the General Staff realizes the new harsh reality, and cuts were ordered throughout the military, impacting the standing army, reserve units, air force and the navy.

At the end, the cabinet approved a 3 billion NIS cut from the military’s operating budget while the treasury was seeking a 4 billion NIS cut.
