City comptroller candidate Eliot Spitzer hasnt filed an ethics report on time with the city Conflicts of Interest Board.
The Wall Street Journal (http://on.wsj.com/15hivRy ) reports that Spitzer is one of several candidates who hadnt filed a financial disclosure report by last Thursdays deadline.
The fine for missing the deadline is between $250 and $10,000. But the board automatically extends a one-week grace period before imposing any fines.
A lawyer representing Spitzers campaign told the newspaper the candidate was very busy last week collecting petitions to secure a spot on the Democratic ballot. Martin Connor says Spitzer planned to file the report in the coming days.
Spitzer launched his campaign just days before the deadline to submit petitions. He resigned as New Yorks governor in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal.
