Arabs Throw Stones And Firebombs And Hit Arab Car, Setting Driver On Fire


During an early morning operation by Israeli security forces on Tuesday in Issawiya, an Arab neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem, Arab rioters threw stones and firebombs at the Israeli police officers.

One of the firebombs hit an Arab car and set it on fire. The driver, a resident of Issawiya, suffered serious burns before he was rescued from his burning car by Israeli police officers and evacuated to the hospital.

Eight of the Arab rioters were arrested by police.

“In the course of the night, reports were received of firebomb attacks on the Maale Adumim-Jerusalem road from the direction of the Issawiya,” an Israel Police spokesperson said, “and in addition, rioters hurled firebombs at police officers operating in Issawiya, with one of the firebombs hitting a passing car, causing it to erupt in flames.”

“Police officers at the scene extricated the driver from the burning car and quickly evacuated him to the hospital in serious condition. One of the officers who rescued him was wounded and treated at the scene.”
