Court Distances Sheikh Salah from Capital for 180 Days

salahA Jerusalem court on Tuesday, 28 Elul 5773 complied with an Israel Police request and distanced Sheikh Raed Salah from Jerusalem for 180 days. Salah, who heads the northern branch of the Israel Islamic Association, was detained by police earlier in the day for questioning pertaining to a recent sermon.

In an address given last week Salah blamed Israel for inciting against al-Aqsa and the international Muslim community, citing the Israeli “occupation of Jerusalem”.

The court complied with the police request and as a result, Salah may not come within 30km (18 miles) of the capital.

UPDATE: Salah has refused to sign the terms of his release and prefers to remain in detention at this time.
