Israel Begins Vaccinating Teens Aged 16-18

Israel’s vaccination campaign expanded to teenagers aged 16-18 on Motzei Shabbos as the world’s fastest inoculation drive pushes full speed ahead, with about a quarter of the country’s population already vaccinated.

The vaccination of this age group is aimed to allow 11th and 12th graders to return to their classrooms so they can take their matriculation (bagrut) exams on time.

Teenagers being vaccinated must either be accompanied by one of their parents or bring a written permission slip signed by a parent.

The Health Ministry confirmed an additional 81 fatalities from the virus just over the weekend, with the death toll now standing at 4,326. There are currently 76,783 active virus cases, with 1,171 seriously ill patients, of whom 335 are ventilated.

There are 1,844 virus patients being treated in Israel’s hospitals.

  1. If they are already vaccinating teens, why is the country going into more lockdown? Seems to be getting worse despite the high vaccination rate? Are people not actually taking advantage of the vaccine despite being available?
The airport is completely shut down but they have enough vaccination now for teens?? Doesn’t make sense
