Man Who Struck NYPD Officer With Cane Is Shot

nypd4A New York City police officer has shot and injured a man police say struck another officer in the face with a wooden cane.

Police say the 27-year-old man was shot in the chest at about 10:35 a.m. Saturday following a confrontation near a Brooklyn subway station.

Police say the man was ordered to stop banging on a patrol car with the cane by two uniformed officers.

They say after a chase, a female officer confronted the unidentified man with her baton. That’s when the man struck her in the face with the cane, breaking it in two.

Police say the man moved to hit her again — but the second officer let off a single shot, striking him.

Charges are pending against the man. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

  1. Well that makes sense; someone hits you with a cane, you try to kill them. I wonder what would have happened by a civilian did that.

  2. Need more info. This sounds like typical police incompetent, brutality. Hey Mike, when will take guns out of the hands of NY “Finest”? We’ll see.
