FAA: Cuomo’s Plane Was Redirected After Landing Gear Failure

cuomnThe Federal Aviation Administration says that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plane had to be redirected last week because the landing gear failed to deploy.

The FAA issued a statement detailing the incident to the Associated Press Wednesday. Cuomo spokeswoman Melissa DeRosa says the governor was not on board the plane when it was redirected Dec. 10.

The FAA says Cuomo’s plane was headed to pick him up after a press event on Long Island on Dec. 10. It says the plane returned to Albany mid-flight because of the landing gear problem.

DeRosa says the gear was fixed during the return flight on the 25-year-old Beechcraft BE-200.

DeRosa says Cuomo had to ride back in a state police vehicle from Farmingdale, Long Island.

She says the plane is now fixed.
