FJCC Congratulates Greenfield & Deutsch on Important and Historic Committee Appointments


fjccThe Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition,(FJCC) congratulates local New York City Council members, David Greenfield and Chaim Deutsch, on their selection to prominent leadership positions, enabling them to help our community and the city for years to come.

Councilman David Greenfield, a veteran of the city council, who represents part of Flatbush, was appointed chairman of the powerful Land Use committee. As chairman, Greenfield will oversee all development citywide, which is crucial to our community, as well as the entire city. In addition, Mr. Greenfield was also appointed to other committees that play an important role for our community including Transportation and Youth Services.

Councilman Chaim Deutsch was selected as chairman of the newly created Non-Public School Sub Committee. This historic and unprecedented committee, will for the first time, give a voice to the hundreds of thousands of students and their parents who attend non-public schools in New York City. The issues facing non- public school parents are many and diverse, from school bussing and lunch programs, to after hours to therapists’ and special needs evaluations. Deutsch was also chosen to serve on the prominent Waterfront, Aging and important Public Safety committees among others, where Mr. Deutsch will utilize his vast experience as the founder and director of Flatbush Shomrim.

The FJCC looks forward to continue working closely with Council members Deutsch and Greenfield as well as Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, and Council leadership members Brad Lander and Dan Goradnick in the years to come for the benefit of the greater Flatbush community, stated Josh Mehlman, Chairman, FJCC.
