Mayor Yisrael Porush’s victory in the Elad election may be viewed as an accomplishment but the young incumbent has learned that life in his coalition will not be easy on the best of days.

As the young Porush worked to assemble a coalition with members of the unseated Shas party, the heavyweights were called in to finalize the agreement. Yahadut Hatorah’s Meir Porush, the mayor’s father, met with Shas leader Aryeh Deri as the two agreed to sign a document of understanding outlying the coalition agreement.

It has been three months since Porush emerged the victor in the mayoral race as he has been toiling to assemble a city government.

Deri and Porush met in Knesset along with MK Yaakov Asher, as they finalized the draft agreement to sign ahead of signing the Elad coalition agreement.
