Israel: Shouts of ‘Shema Yisrael’ Heard from the Burning Vehicle; Two People Dead In Crime-Family War

mishtaraResidents of Maginim Street in Petach Tikvah were awakened to a powerful explosion at about 04:00 on Monday morning, 3 Adar I 5774. When they ran to their windows to see what had occurred they saw a vehicle engulfed in flames, with some giving police testimony they heard the occupant shouting “Shema Yisrael” over and over again, until the voice was silenced by the flames.

Shouts of “Shema” were heard amid a number of smaller explosions. By the time fire trucks arrived all that remained for them to do was to extinguish the flames and then pronounce two people dead.

Police investigators reported later in the morning it appears the driver and occupant were delivering a large bomb to another location, calling the explosion “an apparent work accident”. The blast was so powerful that there was damage to some property in the area and police reported a 20-year-old woman was injured from glass shards as well as a couple and their three-year-old daughter.

Police believe the explosion was part of the ongoing war between crime families. The registered owner of the vehicle that blew up was arrested and taken for questioning on Monday morning.

  1. Nebach…..now even the criminals are crying out to the Ebeshter for rachmonus when they know their time has come….maybe there is hope.

  2. Given the demography of Israeli criminals, it is not surprise that the criminal “class” is much less off the derekh than the ruling “class.” The same is true in many cultures.
