Winter Storm To Impact The NYC Area Wed Night Through Thurs Evening


weatherSunny and cold conditions continue today until tonight. Low pressure developing along the gulf coast and will track up the eastern seaboard on Thursday. This will produce a winter snow storm for NYC beginning Wednesday overnight until Thursday night.

PRECIPITATION AND TIMING
The storm will move into the NYC area at approximately 4 AM to 5 AM Thursday morning and will persist until Thursday evening. The NWS forecasts up to 2-4 inches of snow by 8 AM Thursday morning. The snow is forecasted to change over to a wintery mix or all rain by 10 AM to 12PM Thursday before changing back over to snow Thursday evening. An additional 2 inches plus could accumulate after the changeover. NWS reports the possible total snow accumulation for this event is between 4 and 8 inches. The snow accumulation can be less or more depending on the timing of change over from snow to wintry mix/rain.

TEMPERATURES
Today: High near 27 degrees.
Tonight: Low around 26 degrees.
Thursday: High near 33 degrees.
Thursday Night: Low around 23 degrees.

WINDS
Today: North 6 to 8 mph.
Tonight: Northeast 7 to 11 mph.
Thursday: Northeast 16 to 18 mph with possible gusts of 30 to 35 mph.
Thursday Night: North 20 to 23 mph.
