Satmar Rebbe Of Kiryas Yoel Works On Settling Machlokes In Eida

satmFollowing a discussion with the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Yoel Shlita Eida Chareidis Ravaad HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita has indicated he will remain in his position and not step down. The Satmar Rebbe Shlita arrived in Eretz Yisrael on Wednesday, 19 Adar I 5774 and speaking with the Ravaad was high on his agenda.

The rebbe called for achdus as he was briefed on the Shaked Committee decision to impose criminal sanctions against chareidim who do not comply with the draft law. The rebbe announced it is time to declare war and this demands achdus.

The rebbe reportedly urged the ravaad not to step down, explaining the urgency of the hour and that he will personally work to unite the Eida once again. The ravaad acquiesced and indicated he will continue in his position.

  1. הלל אומר, הוי מתלמידיו של *אהרן*, אוהב שלום ורודף שלום, אוהב את הבריות ומקרבן לתורה

  2. Does anybody know what if any changes have been made in the Eida’s position concerning the K’voros? That was the bases of why Rav Sternbuch was resigning.

  3. Although I understand and sympathise with the comment made by “laptop”, I don’t understand however how a site named Yeshiva World allows comments questioning or criticising our leaders (whether you like them or not!).

  4. Kudos to laptop – I am certain MANY people had the exact same thought when reading this article. I know I did.

david_inuk – Because sometimes leaders are wrong and deserve (and perhaps may even benefit from)being questioned and criticized. It is when we stop questioning (and, if warranted, criticizing)that we will cease to be the Light unto the Nations that we are.

  5. 1 & 6,
Oh yeah, you think you’re soooo smart, smarter than the average chosid hater I’m sure. What you don’t knew or understand is that there can be lots of behind the scenes stuff going on that you don’t know about our won’t EVER know about because it’s none of your business.

  6. For what its worth, the same criminal sanctions will apply to chilonim who fail to comply with the draft law….there national security reasons for excluding arab citizens, don’t really make much sense when applied to chareidim who simply object to having to take time off from their limud torah.

  7. Gadolhadorah: Pro-zionist hareidim object to army service because of both bitual Torah and lack of adquate accomodation of a halachic lifestyle. Non-zionist hareidim hold that since the medinah’s creation and existence are contrary to halacha, they are in effect being asked to join a criminal gang that plans to murder and rob; the loud protests are coming from the latter group (meaning they clearly meet the international definition of religious-based conscientious objection).
