Huckabee in Washington, Hinting at 2016 Bid

huck1.jpgFormer Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is telling House Republicans he’s considering a White House bid in 2016 and wants their advice.

Huckabee met Wednesday with about 70 House lawmakers at the Republican National Committee headquarters, a short walk from the Capitol. He also hosted a fundraiser and met with other Republican leaders.

Huckabee advisers and Republican officials discussed his schedule on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the private meeting.

Huckabee, who sought the Republican nomination in 2008 but came up short, has deep appeal among evangelical Republicans. During that race, the Southern Baptist pastor relied on support of social conservatives but never won over establishment Republicans or donors.

Since that election bid, Huckabee has hosted a show on the Fox News Channel.

  1. I don’t think huckster-bee, a retread from 2008 has what it takes to win in a left of center country. Although he’d put up a better showing that john mcshame or mittens romney.
