MDA Will Operate Clinics in Meron on Shabbos Lag B’Omer

Magen David Adom will be operating first aid clinics this coming Shabbos, Parshas Bechukosai. The EMS organization is aware that many tens of thousands of visitors will already be spending Shabbos in Meron and surrounding areas, wishing to be near Kever Rashbi on motzei Shabbos to position themselves for Lag B’Omer events.

The medical clinic will be situated near the tziyun, at the Bnei Akiva complex. Manning the facility will be physicians, paramedics and EMTs. Other Shabbos clinics will be operating on the Derech Mehadrin and the Shezifran complex. MDA explains this will provide coverage in all areas.

Rabbonim affiliated with the Hatzalah will be directing the Halacha aspects of the Shabbos clinics. This includes HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Eliezer Stern Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Meir Siruta Shlita. The Hilchos Shabbos procedures will be given to all involved before Shabbos to permit preparing accordingly.

Police believe over 150,000 people will be in Meron and the surrounding area for Shabbos. MDA calls on people planning to spend Shabbos in the area to please monitor their children in light of the large quantity of heavy equipment already in place for Lag B’Omer, including poles, stages, electronic equipment and much more.

MDA officials add that it already has much of the equipment it requires in place, including advanced life support medical apparatus, ATVs, and other transport and response vehicles.

Hundreds of additional MDA and Hatzalah volunteers will join the force on motzei Shabbos along with hundreds of thousands of expected visitors to the area.
