Ambulances To Be Rerouted In Brooklyn Neighborhoods Ahead Of Hospital Closures

ambulance.jpgAmbulances will be ordered to steer clear of a Brooklyn hospital slated for closure, starting Thursday.

The Daily News reports that medics responding to 911 calls in Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, Red Hook and Cobble Hill will be rerouted from Long Island College Hospital to “distant facilities,” including Lutheran Center in Sunset Park and Kings County Hospital in East Flatbush.

Citing an announcement from the state Health Department, the Daily News reports the news is the latest in a string of ongoing threats for the hospital.

Talks with a top bidder to take over the facility collapsed earlier this month. SUNY is now negotiating with another bidder, though it, too, may not include a full-service hospital in its plan to take over the facility.
