Security Cabinet is Weighing Its Options

1

The Security Cabinet is meeting regularly as Operation Brothers Return continues. The ministers in the security forum are weighing various options and responses in addition to the ongoing wave of arrests of Hamas terrorists in PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron.

One of the options being considered is to deport senior Hamas officials to Hamas-occupied Gaza and to destroy their homes in PA areas. It is clear that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has given the order to bring Hamas’ Yehuda and Shomron infrastructure to its knees.

There are concerns being voiced primarily by the political left. It is pointed out that in the previous administration the Security Cabinet was still headed by Prime Minister Netanyahu but it included Defense Minister Ehud Barak and others. They feel that currently, the forum lacks the years of experience in making such weighty decisions other than the prime minister. Their real fear comes from the reality that despite the experience of Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, who is a former IDF chief of staff, they lack the left-wing view that was offered by Barak and Barak’s opposition to radical response. The left-wing fears that without someone objecting to the right-wing views presented, the response me be unacceptably harsh. However, analysts are giving Mr. Netanyahu a high rating to date, citing his response is well within the parameters of a responsible government action in light of the seriousness of the situation.

The Security Cabinet members that head political parties understand that at present, it is necessary to weaken or destroy the Hamas infrastructure and this operation is well underway.

The possibility of deporting the terrorists to Gaza is not a simple one. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu remembers when Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin sent 400 terrorists to Lebanon in 1992. The decision did not fare well in the eyes of the international community and they eventually did return to their homes in Israel.

The daily Maariv quotes a senior political official stating there will not be a mass deportation of terrorist leaders to one locale. “We have learned our lesson; however there are some senior terrorists that the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) would like to see out of Yehuda and Shomron because the potential threat associated with their presence”.

  1. When is Israel going to stop worrying about the international community. They certainly don’t worry about Israel.
If we kept bowing down to their concerns sixty-five years ago, we would not have a State of Israel today. Have bitochon and do what we have to do. The world is going to condemn Israel no matter what they do. They always did.

  2. VERY WELL SAID Chicago maven…ISRAEL SHOULD DO WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO FOR THEIR SECURITY WITHOUT CONCERN OF OTHERS. WOULD UNITED STATES OR OTHER COUNTRIES SIT IDLY BY IF THEY HAD THEIR CITIZENS IN EXTREME DANGER BY THEIR SWORN ENEMIES????? ISRAEL NEEDS NO EXCUSE TO WIPE OUT HAMAS WHO IS THREATENING THEIR SECURITY CONSTANTLY BY KIDNAPPINGS , AND CONSTANT BARAGES OF MISSILES FROM GAZA……

  3. Hmmmm….
Lapid, Livni and co’s are eerily silent throughout this entire episode.
Come to think of it, ErDOGan too.

  4. True, we don’t need approval to do what we need to do. However, it still makes a major difference. Obama is seriously mistaken in his passivity.
Join the voices and tell Obama how he should be reacting!
    We need signatures!!
Demand that America “use all means necessary to assist the Israeli Government in their efforts to locate these captive children.”
And demand that the Obama Administration “retract and rescind all support of the Fatah/Hamas terrorist coalition government” that Netanyahu clearly said “emboldens terrorists” and caused this horrific kidnapping!

  5. Livni is a member of the Security Cabinet. So are Lapid and Aharonovich. The AG is a participant. There is no shortage of political balance.
