Trajtenberg: Lapid Erred Big Time When Accepting the Finance Ministry

lapWhile Yesh Atid party officials have grown accustomed to taking the blows from Likud, it is now feeling the assault from the direction of the new Labor/The Movement ticket. Prof. Emanuel Trajtenberg, their candidate to become the next minister of finance, announced that “Lapid made a big mistake when he accepted the Finance Ministry”.

Speaking to the Channel 2 “Ulpan Shishi” program, Trajtenberg explained “One cannot expect an outsider who is unfamiliar with the system to be able to lead the police of economic and social reform and not just maintain the system. He made a big mistake when he took the portfolio”.

When asked if taxes will be increased under his direction, he stated “Chalila that we do not increase taxes and chalila that we do not touch the defense budget. Would it be better for our children and grandchildren to pay for this in the fuure, a larger budgetary deficit? It is easy to speak. I know what is involved. One who comes and suggests what should be done, let him also tell us from where to obtain the funding”.

  1. The primary function of the Israeli finance minister is not to promote economic development, but to dispense patronage, i.e. to reward one’s friends and punish one’s enemies. Trajtenberg may be an economist, but the job description is for a politician.

  2. It would make sense that a person who understands finance become finance minister not an actor nor a TV personality like Lapid, but Regan who was smart appointed top people to top posts and was successful.

  3. Lapid was suckered into it by Netanyahu. It helped him self destruct. Besides, Lapid has no real education that qualifies for that position and he’s too arrogant to understand it. Just delusions of grandeur.

He said early on of his goal to be Prime Minister. B”H, that will never happen.
