Bennett Blames Lapid for High Cost of Housing

labenMinister of the Economy Naftali Bennett now blames the high cost of housing in Israel on his former coalition ally, former Finance Minister Yair Lapid. Bennett states that Lapid failed to lower housing costs in two years in office.

Bennett told potential supporters that the public must know who is responsible for the continuing increase in housing prices. Bennett praised a decision from the state comptroller to publish a report addressing the cost of housing in Israel.

Bennett added that Housing Minister Uri Ariel on the other hand built 50,000 apartments and he wanted to sell them at a reduced rate but Lapid opposed the move until the cabinet “approved his baby, the Zero VAT bill”.

Bennett stated there is no magic solution, explaining the only way to resolve the housing shortage is to continue building and when the availability no longer lags sorely behind the demand for apartments, only then will prices drop.

  1. Time for people to start taking responsibility for their failures so that we, as the public, can look at them openly and decide who we choose to bring in to the next government….the doers, or the talkers?
