In Speech, Bill Clinton Makes No Mention of Wife’s Campaign

clinFormer President Bill Clinton did not make mention of his wife’s presidential campaign in his first public appearance after Hillary Rodham Clinton declared her candidacy.

The former president spoke Tuesday night at a fundraiser in New York City for Tina’s Wish, a nonprofit that raises money for early detection of ovarian cancer.

He spoke for more than 25 minutes but only mentioned his wife once, in a lighthearted anecdote about sharing details from a book he had read.

His remarks were focused on the work done by the foundation and its efforts to combat cancer.

The former president was honored for the Clinton Foundation’s charitable efforts.

Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy Sunday with an online video and held her first low-key campaign events in Iowa hours before her husband spoke.
