Former IDF Commander on the Next Round of Warfare with Gaza

gantzFormer IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz spoke at a Shurat Hadin-Israel Law Center function held on Monday, 15 Iyar.

Speaking about last summer’s counter-terrorism offensive against Hamas in Gaza, Gantz explained the IDF did everything humanly possible to minimize injury to Gaza civilians. He spoke of the IDF’s emphasis on being a moral army that adheres to democratic principles. Gantz explained this is true on all front, including Lebanon.

Gantz explained that Israel’s enemies turn guest rooms into weapons storage facilities and kindergartens are rocket warehouses. “Do not tell me it is a mosque when I know that it is a warehouse for rockets and ammunition” he explained, adding “I am unaware of any shul in Israel that does the same. They do not have swimming pools but they have missile pools”.

He explained that once the bad guy had limitations but this is not so today.

Gantz warns that the next round of warfare with Hamas will be more difficult with more suffering as Israel will be compelled to address more moral dilemmas.

Gantz’s statements come on the heels of radical left-wing NGOs that busy themselves with exposing IDF law-breaking and wrongdoing including ‘Breaking the Silence’.
