Federal prosecutors have urged a judge to reject former New York state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s bid to throw out criminal charges he faces.
The government made arguments in papers filed Friday in Manhattan federal court. Two weeks ago, the Democrat’s lawyers had asked Judge Valerie Caproni to throw out the case. They wrote that the charges do not allege a crime, but rather describe longstanding features of New York state government that a prosecutor finds distasteful.
But prosecutors say bribes, kickbacks and extortion are just as illegal in New York as any other state. They say Silver exploited his power to collect $4 million in kickbacks.
Silver has said he will be vindicated.
Silver resigned as Assembly speaker after his January arrest. He has retained his Assembly seat.

It seems like many members of the NY Assembly & Senate are tainted & corrupt. Give the old man his day in court to defend himself & see if he is innocent of the charges. If the judge drops it, this time the anti-semites may be justified in protesting “Jewish power” What a chilul Hashem.

You seem to have great trust in our judiciary system. take a good look a Rubashkin, Pollard or others, who have been tortured by the system.
If Prosecuters are out to get someone, including yourselves, they can find ways to put them in jail for life…

The anti-semites will always find what to say – true or false, but they will say it if it puts Jews in a bad light. Don’t forget the blood libels, there are those who still say so today. And the way they made evidence back then they can do so today. This is not necessarily a case of chillul Hashem. Or you have to say any and every Jew in government is a chillul Hasem. Anti semites don’t want them there altogether. How many people say “Hitler didn’t finish the job”. Something wide spread in the world doesn’t automatically mean corrupt, just because someone else is jealous.
I hope Silver stays afloat and ends up smearing all other Dems. Who are we kidding? 99% of politicians are all the same. Including the governor and mayor. They couldnt get elected if they didnt make deals with powerful donors behind closed doors. Trust me there’s big dirt on all of them. Its a matter of who youre looking to find the dirt on.
