After being hospitalized, released and hospitalized again, the head of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael, HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita has undergone an operation to relieve the pain he has been suffering in a leg.

Rav Cohen, who also serves as Rosh Yeshivat Porat Yosef, underwent an operation on Monday, 5 Tammuz in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. The procedure was done with a local anesthetic.

Waiting in the hospital near the surgical suite was Shas leader Aryeh Deri, along with the rav’s family members. Doctors made the decision to perform the operation after the rav was readmitted on Sunday with excruciating leg pain, which he has been dealing with in recent months.
