PHOTOS: Magen David Adom Pays Tribute to a Special Blood Donor


06Magen David Adom blood bank officials paid a special tribute to a special person, Moshe Gellenter, 70, who has given his 300th unit of blood. Gellenter has been active for a number of decades to promote giving blood. On Wednesday morning 7 Tammuz, together with his family, he marked his birthday and 300th blood unit.

Moshe, a resident of Ramat Gan, is an economist by profession. He has been a regular donor of blood in Tel Hashomer for decades. Moshe has been busy enlisting family members too and over the years, he and family members have donated 481 units of blood.

During the special event the director of blood bank services, Professor Ayelet Schenar and other officials in the organization presented Moshe with a special plate engraved to mark the accomplishment. Schenar and MDA Chief Eli Bin both showered him with praise.

Moshe explained his wife stands behind the family’s volunteerism spirit, which began in the 1980 and during the past 27 years, he has been a regular at the blood bank to give what he can. In addition he was active for years in persuading others to follow his example.
