Obama Heads to Pentagon for Meetings On ISIS

obmoPresident Barack Obama is making a rare visit to the Pentagon to get an update from military leaders on the campaign against the Islamic State.

Obama’s meetings follow a wave of weekend airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition in eastern Syria. The coalition says it was one of the most sustained aerial operations carried out in Syria to date.

The president has insisted he will not send U.S. troops into combat to fight the Islamic State in Iraq or Syria. However, he has acknowledged that the U.S. lacks a “complete strategy” for training Iraqi troops to carry out ground missions.

Efforts to train Syrian rebels are also sputtering. Fewer than 100 rebels are being trained by the U.S., far less than the goal of producing 5,400 fighters a year.

  1. A wave of weekend strikes. I read that meant 40 sorties(flights) which is really not much. When we bombed Kosovo it was hundreds of sorties. I guess when degrading and destroying a junior varsity enemy you don’t need much fire power. The problem is that this strategy, if there is one, isn’t working. If Mr Obama would just destroy ISIS like he’s destroyed our country the issue would be settled.

  2. I guess OBAMA needs to tell his new best buddy the Shiite ayatollah how he can completely get rid of ISIS the lone power fighting the Shiite-Hezbollah powers.

  3. The average American feels more threatened by ISIS than any other Terror organization and even more than Nazi Germany. Something very serious has to be done! A few air strikes won’t do!!!
