New York Sen. Charles Schumer says a cell phone case that looks like a gun is a “disaster waiting to happen.”

Schumer is urging online retailers to stop selling it.

Amazon told The New York Times on Tuesday night that the item was no longer listed on its site.

Law enforcers in New York and elsewhere have been expressing concerns about the foreign-manufactured product for weeks.

Schumer says the case lacks a required, highly visible orange marking that identifies it as harmless.

The senator says advertisements indicate it can be displayed in a pocket, as if it’s a real weapon.

He says the case also can be used with a Russian roulette app that transforms the phone’s screen into the image of a gun barrel.
