Ometz Organization Wants Senior Israel Police Commanders Suspended Pending Probe into Stabbing At Toeiva Parade

shlThe Ometz organization on Sunday, 17 Menachem Av, turned to Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, Acting Israel Police Chief Bentzi Sau, and State Comptroller Yosef Shapira, demanding senior Israel Police commanders must be suspended pending the outcome of the investigation into police failures permitting the stabbing attack at the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade last week.

Ometz feels the officers responsible for the security failures that permitted Yishai Schlisel to perpetrate the attack include Jerusalem Police Chief Moshe Edri, Assistant Chief Guy Nir (Israel National HQ Chief of Intelligence), and Commander Moti Shief (Jerusalem District Chief of Investigations & Intelligence).

Ometz feels the three should be suspended from duty until the investigators submit their findings, adding the investigation must be conducted by a third party and not Israel Police.

  1. This is the one area that I think everybody agrees upon. There’s no logical explanation why the police department did not monitor this murder the day of the parade!
