Switzeland: Person Airlifted With Serious Injuries When Walkway Collapses At The Kosher Arosa Hotel

arFive people were injured on Tuesday night when a wooden walkway connecting two parts of a hotel in the Swiss mountain resort town of Arosa collapsed, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred shortly before 10pm at the Metropol Hotel when the 3.5-metre-long walkway linking the reception area with the terrace of an adjacent building gave way, Graubünden cantonal police said in a statement.

Five people on the walkway fell onto a concrete staircase. One person was seriously injured and was flown by a Rega emergency services helicopter to hospital, the statement said.

Three others suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance, police said.

Investigators believe the cause of the accident may have been rotten wood beams.

Offering panoramic mountain views, the three-star Metropol in the canton of Graubünden is described by several websites as one of the best known kosher hotels in Switzerland.
