Terrorist Hunger-Striker Vows to Resume Strike if Rearrested

maOnce again Israel has capitulated, freeing administrative security prisoner Muhmad Alaan, who was on a hunger strike for over two months. He was hospitalized of late due to the severity of his condition. The Supreme Court last week suspended his administrative detention order amid fears he was going to die.

Israel in the official response to the High Court indicated it would not object to his release providing he signed agreeing to leave the country for four years. Muhmad refused to sign and conditions and stated if he is not released he will continue the hunger strike to his death, refusing medical intervention.

Israel feared if he dies in custody it would spark a violent response, including rocket attacks from Gaza. Iron Dome batteries were deployed in Beersheva and Ashdod late last week in preparation for such an eventuality. However, Alaan has since been released, telling the media if he is rearrested, he will resume his hunger strike.

Opponents to the release, which includes a number of cabinet ministers, fear the release will spark tens, hundreds or thousands of security prisoners to launch a hunger strike.

Thousands of Israeli Arabs including Members of Knesset rallied on Alaan’s behalf, demanding his release. He has been imprisoned by Israel in the past for his terror-related activities. A major rally was held in which the MKs took part, calling for the release of Alaan as well as “protecting al-Aqsa Mosque”.

  1. Sounds like a good diet plan…eat all you want get arrested loose it all then be released…eat all you want then get arrested……….

  2. Some 3rd world countries abuse and starve their prisoners in jail and get billions of dollars in aid from the international community. Israel’s prisoners starve themselves and the Israelis get condemnations.
