A new poll shows New York state voters do not want Mayor Bill de Blasio to keep control of New York City public schools.
The mayors control of city schools expires this year unless state lawmakers renew it.
The Quinnipaic University poll Monday also found New Yorkers trust teachers unions more than Gov. Andrew Cuomo to improve education.
Fifty-two percent of state voters said de Blasio should not have control of the citys schools, compared to 36 percent who said he should.
Statewide, the poll found voters support teachers unions over Cuomo to improve education 54 percent to 31 percent.
The poll of 1,366 voters was conducted on Sept. 10-15. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
