MDA Treated 2,019 Persons During Yom Kippur


mdal.thumbnailMagen David Adom officials’ report treating 2,019 persons during Yom Kippur, of which 1,909 were transported to a hospital.

MDA on erev Yom Kippur moved to its highest operational level, well-aware of the busy day ahead. Of the patients treated, 234 fainted or were exhibiting signs of dehydration from the fast and 67 were treated in shuls, some treated and released on the scene and some transported to a hospital. There were 11 CPR cases and 140 calls for childbirth of which five gave birth at home; in Emanuel, Beit Shemesh, Jerusalem, Ashdod and Herzliya.

There were unfortunately many cases of injury from bike riding, which sadly for many is what Yom Kippur represents. 282 people were treated for injuries sustained riding bikes, including children and adults. In addition, 21 people were treated for injuries sustained in vehicular accidents.
