Bennett Opposes Rabbonim Who Call to Refuse Orders Pertaining to Demolition of Givat Ze’ev Shul

gzsBayit Yehudi party leader Minister Naftali Bennett has come out in opposition to a kol korei from prominent rabbonim who ask Jewish and non-Jewish members of the IDF and security forces not to comply with orders pertaining to the expected demolition of Beit Knesset Ayelet HaShachar Shul in Givat Ze’ev.

While admitting the ruling from the nation’s highest court is difficult, Bennett calls for complying with it, adding the shul can be relocated. “I absolutely reject the call to refuse to comply with orders or for violence. The ruling must be carried out and the shul must be rebuilt elsewhere” stated Bennett via Twitter.

The rabbonim who signed the Kol Korei are Rabbi Shalom Cohen Shlita, Rabbi David Batzri Shlita, Rabbi Meir Mazuz Shlita, Rabbi Binayahu Shmueli Shlita, Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburg Shlita, Rabbi Shalom Arush Shlita, Rabbi Avigdor Nebenzahl Shlita, Rabbi Bentzion Mutzafi Shlita, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Shlita and Rabbi David Chai HaCohen Shlita.

The Israel High Court of Justice ruled that the shul was built on Arab-owned land and therefore, it must be razed despite the fact it has been operating for over 15 years. The court rejected all offers to reach a solution, including paying far more than the land is worth to avoid the demolition of a shul.

  1. vatiftach h-m et pee ha’ason. Who does he think he is that he is worthy of opposing daat torah! Not that I’m from his camp, however Daat torah takes precedence, as opposed to a politician.

  2. I always said that Religious Zionists have Zionism as their first religion and Torah secondary. When they have to chose between Zionist ideology or Torah they always side with Zionism.

  3. The religious in Israel have to respect the Supreme Court and not make a civil war. Furthermore, if the court ruled it is built on stolen land, then the Shul must be relocated, period, especially so that Israel does not look like people who steal land. Mashiach is not here yet even though these Rabbis wish it to be.

  4. What does Torah say about participating in government and building a Jewish state? Funny how so many “frum” people pick and choose what they want to follow in Torah and vote for parties that are not committed on a Torah level to settle the land build a Jewish state.

  5. The rabbanim in question are government employees. THey are all part of the zionist establishment. And the Supreme Court is on top of the zionist establishment.. If you hold by having a zionist state, you are stuck playing by its rules. If you reject the zionist legal system, you are rejecting zionism. And if you reject zionism, you shouldn’t be on the zionist payroll. Sarcastically, what part of “you sold out” don’t they understand?

The hareidim are not so bound but the true hareidim (Eidis Hareidis, Neturei Karta, etc.) do not take government money and keep their freedom.
