According to the official police version pertaining to the arrest of the talmid yeshiva in Eilat, the young man was a “partygoer dressed as a partygoer and heading to a pub when taken into custody”.

The young man police report was not dressed as a ben torah but wearing jeans and was not wearing a yarmulke. In fact, the reason police became involved in that a taxi driver phoned after a group of young men refused to pay the entire fare.

When police arrived they tracked the youths to the Crazy Elephant Club, a pub in Eilat. They refused to pay the driver an additional NIS 5. Police asked the driver to come to the station to file a complaint. When they ran the ID numbers of the youths, they learned the suspect is wanted by military policy for failing to report to the draft registry. Police add the young man said “I am chareidi”, adding nothing about his appearance added credibility to the statement.

Officials from the Yerushalmi faction are quoted saying that after hearing the story and speaking with the family, the decision has been made to halt actions on his defense.

To be clear, this was not the case, as protests were seen across the country – with protesters blocking traffic at major intersections and major highways.

  1. Why go demonstrate for an OPENLY NOT YESHIVA BCHUR who broke the law? Just to stir up some excitement! Let the “bein hazmanim” end 2 days after Pesach. They are bored out of their skins. Zu Tora v’zu sechara???? SHAME!!

  2. Lucky this happened during bein hazemanim otherwise the heilige bucherim would all have been shteiging in learning and who would have been able to be mekadesh shem shomayim in the streets?

  3. This is what happens when it’s bem hazmanim, and no yeshivah sedarim are taking place. Out of boredom. …….

  4. So these guys are protesting/rioting because a bum in Eilat was arrested??

    I’m sure R’ Shmuel Aurebach’s real proud of them…

  5. #5 Whats with the mocking of gedolim?
I feal there is way to much violence by the police, its a bunch of bochurim, seriously no need 2 get so violent!
and at the end of the video why is the cop videoing the bochurim??

  6. Please don”t believe the lies put about by the police in order to cover their tracks. They may indeed have arrested someone in Eilat, but the demonstrations are about a known bochur from a good Yeshiva who was arrested while on a hike with friends in the north of the country. Unfortunately too many believe and repeat the propaganda put out by the powers that be who are trying to destroy the Torah community in Eretz Yisroel.

  7. #6 these hooligans needed to be cleared off the roadways they were blocking illegally, and if I may add- for absolutely no reason. The “eitznikim” have now showed their true colors as a bunch of wild action- seekers, not bnei- torah standing up for a purpose. And #5 was mocking the hooligans- not R’ Shmuel. However, I will add this question- how did R’ Shmuel not put a stop to it?

  8. UNFORTUNELY
The frum kehillos outside of Israel are losing interest in this in-fighting between Rav Auerbach and Rav Steinman. Decision to send heilige and good bochurim to Israel for learning is reduced due to all this nonsense.
