The summer beach season opened in Israel officially on Monday, 1 Iyar. The day is accompanied by the seasons first lifeguard job action as they explain there are unresolved issues pertaining to their work conditions. The lifeguards union explains the negotiations have been taking place for two years, to no avail.
As a result of the job action, the lifeguards only manned the nations 143 regulated beaches until 14:00.
