FULL DETAILS ON WHAT HAPPENED: NYPD Officers Shoot Man Who Attacked Them With Meat Cleaver Near Penn Station


cShots were fired in Manhattan after an NYPD officer was attacked near Penn Station in by a man with a meat cleaver.

The NYPD confirmed the shooting at Broadway and 32nd Street took place at around 5 p.m. The incident occurred a block away from Macy’s department store and closed several busy streets just as the evening rush hour was getting underway.

The following statement was delivered by NYPD Chief of Department Chief James P. O’Neill:

Shortly before 5:00PM this afternoon, two uniformed officers from the Midtown South precinct responded to a call for a possible crime in progress at West 31 Street and Broadway in Manhattan.

Upon arriving at that location, they encountered a male who pulled an 11 inch meat cleaver from his waistband and proceeded to flee on foot westbound. The officers pursued him and broadcast his description over the radio. The suspect continued to run to 6th Avenue, northbound with the cleaver in his hand. Several officers from the Midtown South precinct and Transit Bureau joined the foot pursuit.

In the vicinity of West 32 Street, a uniformed sergeant deployed a Taser striking the suspect without apparent effect.

The suspect continued to run westbound on 32nd Street toward 7th Avenue. At mid-block the suspect mounted the front grill of the marked police car that was responding to the call.

At this point, an off-duty detective in civilian clothes attempted to subdue the suspect.

The detective was struck in the head by the cleaver causing an approximate 6 inch gash.

Uniformed members then fired at the suspect, striking him several times. The detective and the suspect were transported to Bellevue Hospital.

The detective is currently listed in serious condition. The suspect is in critical condition. Two additional officers sustained non-life threatening injuries during the encounter.

It has not been determined how these injuries were sustained at this time.

The suspect is identified as Akram Joudeh who is a 32 year-old male with a last known address in Queens but is now living in his car.

    You fail to mention tray he is Muslim. I guess because that wouldn’t help the leftist agenda against trump.
    Not like he is not another nut job but the bias for the lying carcass is just so evident is disgusting.

  2. This incident is the reason why LEOs should be permitted to use deadly force and NOT be asked to tase subjects such as this one! The mayor De-Blah-Zero and other liberals have made our LEOs targets by demanding that they ‘try other methods’ to take down assailants in deadly encounters. When the police (and other agents) are putting their lives on the line, no holds barred!
