Justice Minister Shaked: Bayit Yehudi Seeking Compromise Over Kosel Machlokes

kosJustice Minister Ayelet Shaked feels that agents of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions) are “agents of ignorance and hatred” and the organization’s ongoing efforts continues to the spread of anti-Semitism.

Speaking at a Jewish Agency for Israel function in Jerusalem on Sunday, 29 Tishrei, Minister Shaked told her audience the real agenda of BDS is to “wipe Israel off the map”. The senior minister told the opening session of the JA Board of Governors “BDS does not have any real interest in promoting human rights but remains committed totally wiping Israel of the face of the earth”.

When asked to comment on the matter of the controversial egalitarian prayer area at the Kosel, she told her audience that she and Bayit Yehudi leader Minister Naftali Bennett continue efforts towards a compromise solution. While the chareidim were on board in the onset, they have since adopted a hardline policy against it, so much so they have threatened a coalition crisis over the matter.

Bayit Yehudi on the other hand favors an egalitarian option and a dialogue with non-Orthodox streams of Yiddishkheit while the chareidi parties oppose any and all cooperation with organizations representing Reform and Conservative Judaism.

  1. To be honnest, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked has totally right in speaking about BDS. This organization does not care about Palestinians (for example with the Sodastream issue a lot of palestinians lost their job. Does BDS care about them ?)
