IDF Using Technology To Combat Terror On Highway 443


1The IDF is relying on technology as one of the weapons against terror attacks on Highway 443, the Jerusalem-Modi’in Highway, that has known its share of terror attacks including daily firebomb and rock-throwing attacks. No less than 270 cameras have been installed along the highway in the hope of facilitating the apprehension of terrorists.

The IDF has published the installation of the cameras on its website in the hope it will be known and serve as a deterrence to future attacks. The photos of the cameras will be forwarded to the IDF’s operations center around the clock and in the event of an act of terror, the documentation will be used to assist in apprehending those responsible. Additional cameras have also been added to Highway 1, the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway.

There were 61 acts of terror on 443 in 2016 and ninety during 2015. Most attacks involved rock-throwing and firebombs but there have also been shooting attacks as well as stabbing attacks in the gas stations.

According to the Shin Bet, there was a significant reduction in attacks on 443 in November 2016; down to 95 attack as compared to 153 in October 2016.

    “including daily firebomb and rock-throwing attacks”

    That’s at least 365 more.

    So what are the correct figures????
