Senator Says GOP Colleagues Question Trump’s Mental Health

trA Democratic senator claims that “a few” of his Republican colleagues have expressed concern to him about President Donald Trump’s mental health — and that stems from questions about Trump’s truthfulness.

Minnesota’s Al Franken tells CNN’s “State of the Union” that the concern arises “in the way that we all have this suspicion” that “he lies a lot. He says things that aren’t true. That’s the same as lying, I guess.”

Franken cites Trump’s groundless claim that he would have won the popular vote in the presidential race if not for 3 million to 5 million immigrants in the country illegally voting for his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

And Trump is said to have told some senators in a private meeting at the White House that he and former Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte would have won in New Hampshire if not for voters bused in from out of state.

Franken is looking at those examples and saying: “You know, that is not the norm for a president of the United States, or, actually, for a human being.”

  1. AP definitely has a mental health disorder giving Fraken’s narrow minded statement such a headline. What Trump said is very normal in todays world.

  2. Really who cares what that ultra left piece of garbage Franken says? He has been nothing but trouble since he has been in the government. he NEEDS to back to La La land.

  3. Let’s remember that Charles Krauthammer, who isn’t at all sympathetic to Democrats, expressed similar concerns about Trump’s personality, and apart from his political qualifications he happens to be a Harvard trained psychiatrist. We shouldn’t entirely disregard these concerns.

  4. I don’t work for CNN but I still believe that Trump is not a stable person. He has a serious ego problem. He is not capable of making an objective analysis of a situation. Everything is based on how the situation/person makes him feel. If Putin says he likes Trump, then Putin is great guy (never mind that he is a murderer). If Meryl Streep criticizes Trump for mocking a disabled reporter, then Meryl Streep is the worst actress the film industry has ever encountered.
Trump is not able to assess or judge anything or anybody, because his HUGE ego is his guide.

  5. Meryl Streep, Cited in the media as the “best actress of her generation”, Streep is particularly known for her versatility in her roles, transformation into the characters she plays, and her accent adaptation.

She won an Emmy Award for her role in the miniseries Holocaust. Nominated for 20 Academy Awards in total, Streep has more nominations than any other actor or actress. Streep is one of the six actors to have won three or more competitive Academy Awards for acting.

Streep has also received 30 Golden Globe nominations, winning eight—more nominations, and more competitive (non-honorary) wins than any other actor (male or female).[5] Her work has also earned her two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Cannes Film Festival award, five New York Film Critics Circle Awards, two BAFTA awards, two Australian Film Institute awards, five Grammy Award nominations, and five Drama Desk Award nominations, among several others. She was awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2004, the Gala Tribute from the Film Society of Lincoln Center in 2008, and the Kennedy Center Honor in 2011 for her contribution to American culture through performing arts. President Barack Obama awarded her the 2010 National Medal of Arts and in 2014 the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2003, the government of France made her a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters. In 2017, Streep was awarded the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award.

  6. This may be so but if it’s Al Nutcase Franken telling it you know it’s not so!
    הכל לפי המבייש והמתבייש
How he was elected to the Senate is proof that anyone with name recognition can get elected. Next will be Mickey Mouse!

  7. The fact is that conspiracy theories (of varied stripes) ARE the norm for people. Sitting senators themselves have raised the claims that 9/11 was done by (name it: Bush etc.) And the conspiracy theories like the CIA brainwashed Sirhan to assassinate Senator Kennedy came from the icons of the left and Democratic party.

  8. With anecdotal “evidence” you can say anything. Shame on them for trying to besmirch anyone without solid evidence…

  9. Coming from a bitter old failed comedian, AL Franken, it doesn’t say much. Even “weird Al” Yankavich was better than this creep from Minnesota.
    Fake news.

  10. i need to see who these republican senators are. id bet its john mcain. which would discredit the whole story. also trump may be nuts but hes my nut!

  11. I agree with Anon 21, Trump may be a nut but he’s my nut. No one challenged Obama’s fitness to be president, limited experience, and questionable birth status. We can thank John McCain for refusing to address the issue. He ran a “noncampaign” allowing Obama’s victory. Clinton’s a pathological liar, did the media challenge her fitness? As for Franken, the mental disease of radical liberalism has eaten away his brain.
