Family Rescued From Yam Hamelach – Father Listed In Critical Condition


A Bnei Brak family enjoying the day at Yam Hamelach (Dead Sea) turned into tragedy, after they were swept out in the salty waters.

According to reports, the family arrived at the Ein Bokek Beach on Tuesday to spent some relaxing time there together.

As it became close to sunset, the lifeguards on duty began announcing on the public address system that all people in the water should return to the shore. Everyone returned besides for three members of one family – a father and two sons.

A large rescue mission of Hatzolah Israel and MDA was launched, and a decision was made to have an IDF Chopper from the elite 669 Unit called in to search the dark waters.

After an hour, two Bochrim were located and were reported to be in stable condition.

The teams continued their search, and after another hour the father was located. He was airlifted to Soroka Hospital where he is R”L listed in critical condition.
