Oh Snow, Not Again! Winter Storm Warning Issued For Tri-State Area

A major snowstorm is once again making its way to Greater New York.

New York City is in line for seven to 14 inches of snow, although the National Weather Service mentions a chance that more snow is possible east of the city. Near blizzard conditions should overwhelm much of the region — especially coastal areas of Connecticut and Long Island — during the overnight hours on Tuesday, with winds gusting to 35 mph or higher. The National Weather Service has issued their highest winter weather alert in preparation for the coming snows.

The heaviest snowfall should start as early as the end of Tuesday’s evening rush and should be finished by lunchtime Wednesday. Travel will be very difficult during the morning commute Wednesday, with road crews likely to be working through the night to keep things moving.

For those night owls or excited kids hoping for a snow day, here’s something else to look forward to during the wee hours on Wednesday morning: the possible return of the thundersnow! A super intense jetstream roaring high above our rooftops at more than 150 mph could give this storm just enough energy to create some lightning, though this will probably be confined to central Long Island — an area looking likely to bear the snowy brunt of this storm.

  1. Snow is beautiful!
Your headline is out of taste with a Yiddsh/Yeshivish perspective of Hashem’s seasons. Hashem gave us the beauty of winter.
It’s up to the people to handle it correctly. Unfortunately, we are tuned to the goyish media that complains, complains, complains, and hypes everything up to induce people to listen/watch updates every ten minutes.
In the ‘alteh heim’ when we woke up to a fresh snow, nu, we put on that overcoat and boots, shoveled a little path, and went to shul -in a good cheerful mood-.

True, today we have driving hazards etc. etc., all these are man made (especially proven by last snow’s cleanup problem).
So, let’s try to enjoy it like children do.
(And yes, I have also spun out of control on ice while driving. Not Hashem’s fault that I elected to drive…)

    Cheerful, Careful, and Car-Full!
