Two Dead in Upper East Side Apartment Fire

The FDNY tells media outlets that two people have died in a blaze in Manhattan.
According to 1010WINS, the fire broke out early Sunday on the third floor of a five-story apartment building at 327 East 93rd Street near Second Avenue.

Authorities haven’t released the victims’ identities.

1010 WINS reporter Glenn Schuck has learned the victims were a mother and son. The man, in his 50s, had apparently moved in to the apartment to take care of his elderly mother, along with another one of her sons.

Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries. They are being treated at hospitals.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
