New York City – Representative Anthony Weiner (D – Brooklyn and Queens) today released the following statement regarding Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York City. Weiner, a vocal critic of Iran and their efforts to spread terrorism and build nuclear weapons, has called on New York State and New York City pension funds to divest of all investments in Iran’s energy sector.

Rep. Weiner said, “Iran is a terrorist state and its president is a danger to the world. Iran funds terrorism. They send weapons and resources to attack Israel. And they are trying to build nuclear weapons. Ahmadinejad and his government are a brutal, terror-sponsoring regime. He is not welcome to New York.”
