Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri: Over 1/3 of the city’s students are enrolled in chareidi mosdos.

** Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered three warships to the eastern Mediterranean to defend against Israel, the Turkish media reported on Monday.

** Due to a lack of interest, charter flights from Israel to Turkey are ending this week. This marks the 2nd time such a move is being implemented in 25 years, the first being immediately following the commando operation against the Marmara terror ship.

** During the annual pre-Rosh Hashanah meeting with the IDF chief of staff, Israel’s chief rabbis called upon IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz to accommodate religious soldiers following the ousting of religious officer cadets who refused to attend a female vocal event prohibited under Halacha.

** No winner in first round of Labor Party leadership elections. This will take place on September 21st. Shelly Yacimovich and Amir Peretz are leading with 31% and 32% respectfully. Amram Mitzne (12%) is bowing out and Yitzchak Herzog (29%) is weighing options.
