Yerushalayim’s Candy Sukkah

s1.jpgThe Jerusalem municipality is planning to build a Sukkah made entirely of candy to mark the Yom Tov of Sukkos later this week in Safra Square (Kikar Safra). Two tons of candy will be used in the construction of the 1,000 square meter sukkah. The lighting will be in the shape of candy and the walls will be covered with candy and bubble gum. Starting this Wednesday, admission will be free of charge – as well as the candy which will be distributed to visitors.

  1. We eat big meals on Rosh Hashanah. Then we fast on Tzum Gedalia. Then, after another week, we fast again. And then, comes the Sukkah/Simchat Torah holiday, where we eat big meals and lots and lots of sweets. And we wonder why Jewish people have a high incidence of obesity and eating and digestive disorders!

Now, they got this fatsos’ delight in Kikar Safra, which will only exacerbate the problem (except for the dentists, dieticians and bariatricians).

  2. #4 – precisely the reason I say Judaism has bipolar tendancies. And also that is exactly why I say that doctors/dieticians/Michael Bloomberg don’t Really want to get rid of the problem of obeisity they would like to MAINTAIN it, the diet industry is a multi-billion dollar industry if you get rid of the problem G-d knows how many people would lose their jobs.

  3. Y IS IT THAT WAT GETS US TO SEE A SUCCAH WITH OUR KIDS IS ONE MADE OUT OF SWEETS WAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS WHERE WE JUMPED FOR JOY IF WE HEARD A TZADIK WOULD BE THERE..YERUSHALAYIM SHOULD BRING HARAV HAGAON SHEL DOREINU TO A SUCCAH AND EVERYONE WOULD GAIN A LOT MORE

  4. 1) Who’s hashgacha is the Sukkah under?
    2) What happens if it rains?
    3) Is the candy wrapped? Because if not, there’s gonna be a lot of dead yitushim and jukim stuck it by the end of Yomtov.
    4) Most candy, which is sugar and water, melts a little and gets quite sticky in hot weather.
    5) Don’t forget to warn the little ones not to lick the walls, it’s mukzah during the whole yomtov.
