West Bank Mosque Set Alight In Suspected ‘Price Tag’ Attack

Hebrew messages were spray-painted on the Ali bin abu Talab mosque in the Brukin village overnight Wednesday. The entrance to the mosque, situated near Qalqilya, was also torched – apparently with a burned tire hurled inside. The windowpanes of two vehicles parked outside the mosque were smashed. The IDF and Israel Police are investigating the incident.

According to a report by the Ma’an news agency, several settlers tried to torch the entrance to the mosque at dawn. The governor of Salfit, an adjacent town, said that a number of settlers tried to torch the entrance to the mosque at around 2 am, wrote slogans and torched a tractor and vehicles belonging to Palestinians.

The mosque itself was sprayed with graffiti denouncing the head of the Shin Bet’s Jewish division, responsible for tracking extremist activity.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in response, “The IDF and Defense Ministry are working to trace the perpetrators and view all incidents involving damage to property including holy sites with the utmost severity. ”
