Bnei Brak Family Hospitalized With Salmonella

Another case of serious illness due to salmonella. An entire family, two parents and their 6 children fell ill with salmonella as a result of eating in a restaurant. The mother and her children were hospitalized in Mayanei HaYeshua Hospital in internal wards. It should be noted that the symptoms of infection are very severe and include: diarrhea, vomiting, high fever and pain.

This is not the first time that the medical center reports that whole families have been infected with a bug. In most cases, families buy eggs from an unqualified source, or use expired eggs, or eat homemade ice cream or mayonnaise with eggs.

It should be noted that with the intervention of officials at the Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Center, eggs were caught with forged stamps that were marketed in shops in Bnei Brak. After the raid of intelligence officials in the Agriculture and Health ministries, eggs were caught with forged stamps, whose origin is unknown at this stage.

“Despite all the warnings, there is still a habit that has been rooted for some reason among many families who buy eggs from an unqualified source, in mobile marketers or in private homes, and there is a fear that they have been stored contrary to the conditions required during the chain of marketing. These eggs may be infected with salmonella bacteria, which causes very severe suffering to patients.”

The deputy medical director of the Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Center, Dr. Menachem Caim Breyer, said: “A few years ago, Gedolei Yisrael signed a psak forbidding the use of eggs that are not of authorized and from authorized origin and which have an official stamp on them. As we know, we are commanded to observe the mitzvos ונשמרתם מאוד לנפשותיכם ו’חמירא סכנתא מאיסורא’.

“The law prohibits the use of eggs that may not have been transported and stored in all the necessary conditions.”
