Assistant Tel Aviv Bank Manager Stole A Half Million Shekels


An assistant manager of a Discount Bank branch in northern Tel Aviv arrived at a police station on Sunday, 8 Kislev, and admitted to stealing over half million shekels from the bank after incurring gambling debts. He was questioned and released with restrictions.

The senior bank employee, 62, arrived at the Police Fraud Unit to admit to his actions, accompanied by attorney Ronen Rosenblum. He told police his job included loading the ATM and each time he did this, he took some of the cash for himself.

He explained he won a large sum in the Lotto state lottery and this led to beginning to gamble. He lost the large sum and went into debt. He added that prior to reporting to police, he spoke to the bank manager and admitted everything to him.

He also explained to police he would return the stolen money.
