As Avi Gabbai has expressed his support for changing the Shabbos status quo, MK Yaakov Litzman warns the Machane Tzioni leader is creating a reality that would rule out chareidi cooperation in a future coalition.

Litzman is referring to remarks by Gabbai supporting Holon Mayor Moti Sasson, who wished to follow efforts by Givatayim Mayor Ron Connick, both seeking to amend local bylaws to permit a limited number of businesses to operate on Shabbos, as the High Court of Justice ruled is permissible in Tel Aviv.

Litzman warned Gabbai, that if he continues his “anti-chareidi platform”, he is eliminating any possibility of working with chareidim in a future coalition government. Litzman expresses concern over Gabbai aligning himself with “those working to destroy Shabbos”, stating he cannot see a working relationship in the future amid such realities.
