(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Members of the Knesset Committee for the Advancement of Women did make a visit to Ramat Beit Shemesh in an effort to permit committee members of understand the battle taking place – the placement of, removal of and placement of modesty signs. The Kan evening news report indicates the area has become somewhat of a tourist attraction.

As reported by YWN-ISRAEL, Beit Shemesh City Hall has made numerous attempts to remove the signs, which are replaced each time they are removed. City Hall was instructed to have the signs removed within two weeks by the High Court of Justice, or face charges of contempt of court.

The report shows the court ordered the signs removed, but they are replaced over and over again, each time in larger format. Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Abutbul has announced it will continue fighting the signs in line with the court order, but now tells the court despite efforts with cooperation of Israel Police, results are limited. The city removed the signs four times, albeit to no avail. The committee members however feel the city has to do more.

City Director-General Mati Choma asks women on the bus if they believe the removal of the signs should be the city’s job, he does not believe this to be the case, but the women feel the city is indeed responsible for the removal of the signs.

  1. this idiots don’t realize that within the next 30 years time the majority of israel will be religious according to even the most liberal estimates so they are trying to clean snow during a snowstorm

  2. This whole thing is ridiculous. The women are just as bad (if not worse than!) the ones who supposedly spit or call names. I don’t see what the big deal is with having those signs as there are similar ones in Meah Shearim. These women are only doing this out of politics! There is no way that they just walk into the neighborhood innocently and things happen. These women feel that they have the right to push their ideals on the Chasidim in RBS B! They claim to care about women .. what about the rights of the women who live in RBS B who want their kids to only see tznius women. If these women don’t like the signs they have two options .. 1. don’t look 2. don’t walk into that neighborhood!!

  3. rbstruthseeker says “If these women don’t like the signs they have two options .. 1. don’t look 2. don’t walk into that neighborhood!!”

Change “women” to Fanatical bigots” and I agree.

  4. I agree with you. They are fanatical bigots. They do not care about women but to bully those who live different than them.
