Justice Minister Brings An End To Photographing Suspects In Court

One shameful phenomenon occurs every time a famous detainee is brought to court. Dozens of photographers storm the detainee and document him for minutes from every angle until the hearing begins. Now justice minister Ayelet Shaked is announcing that she will put an end to this and cancel the photographing of the suspects in court.

Minister Shaked addressed the issue in response to a query by MK (Machane Tzioni) Revital Swid: “When a person’s freedom is taken away, it is forbidden to take away his honor too, and there is no justification for trampling on suspects to the ground, and sometimes, the right of the public to know must take a backseat to preserving human dignity, and this includes preventing the suspect’s humiliation.”

“Clearly, persons whose entire world is destroyed do not have to undergo this embarrassment. The president of the Supreme Court intends to change the procedure in the next two months, and we must put an end to this and remember that a person is innocent until proven guilty, even when he is in detention,” explained Minister Shaked.
