PHOTOS: Israel Police Shut Down Counterfeiting Operation

Israel Police has uncovered a counterfeit operation and arrested persons suspected of involvement in the printing and distribution of counterfeit currency.

Eleven suspects were detained for questioning and two other suspects were detained on suspicion of involvement in forgery of money and possession of material for forging a banknote.

According to the suspicions, the suspects acted to produce, transfer, distribute and insert counterfeit NIS 100 and NIS 200 notes into the Israeli economy.

According to the estimate, the suspects succeeded in infusing millions of shekels into the economy.

With the arrest of the suspects, searches were carried out in their homes, during which tens of thousands of shekels suspected of being forged was confiscated.

The suspects were brought for questioning by the police and were arraigned in the Rishon L’Tzion Magistrate Court on Thursday, 27 Nissan.
